Me with Vitor's car after Saturday practice.

Nice drive over, mostly sunny all the way and made great time. Arrived at the track at 1 pm Friday and spent most of the day there... Got a ton of photos... this one is from Saturday right after morning practice... F1 fans, eat your heart out... invited into the garage and one of the officials offered to take my pic with the car! :)

Friday and Saturday are so relaxed in the pits because not many people come to the event until Sunday. Today I saw drivers Oriol Servia and Darren Manning, plus owner Bobby Rahal and BEST of all... Jimmy Vasser, one of my favorite drivers from CART era (now team owner).

Sunday arrived early and parked as close to the exit as possible, facing out. Got out and back on the road only adding 15 minutes to drive time. Filled seats appeared to be about 1/2 capacity for the event and they say it's increased every year since 2004.

Short video clip also (see link below) of Vitor Meira leaving the pits... pretty decent sound and video for my cheap camera :)

Friday: Only have a few photos processed so far but here's a gorgeous view... Sunset from a friends boat in Watkins Glen July 4, just before fireworks.

Friday: The Accord Safety Cars... none had windows down to get a good pic but they are equipped with real race seats.

Saturday: Crew working on Meira's car... I thought I was lucky getting this close before the official said come on in :)

Saturday: View down the garage of the teams working on cars. Looks kinda like track day :D

Saturday: Vintage Grand Prix cars ran an 8 lap "race"... actually did see ONE pass into turn one :) Newest car was a 1982. Formula One raced at the Glen from 61-80.

More Info: See video of Vintage cars going by

Saturday: Close up of 2 Vintage cars... they ran again on Sunday morning for 10 laps which was great.

Saturday: Indy Lite cars on their pace lap. They were fun to watch when racing BUT had MANY yellows. Turn 7 turn in, apex, and track out seems popular places to crash today ;)

Saturday: Marco Andretti's car on the scales... there is an official under the car checking something. Not sure why the nose is off, must be they weight separately for some reason.

Friday: Met 2 S2000 owners this weekend. This car was parked as part of a sports car club. Owner was a younger guy named Adam. Second owner I met in the parking lot w/o his S but he was wearing an S2K hat and came over to say Hi. Greg has an 00 Silverston

Saturday: Koni race cars were very fun to watch... 30 minutes on track and NO yellows! Way better drivers than the Indy Lite guys ;) Very much "stock cars" 72 of them on track at once, wow! Porsches, BMW, Mustangs, Minis, Miatas, Z3 and many other makes/m

Friday: LOTS of Firestone tires... they had rain tread ready to go Friday and Saturday but was not needed. Hopefully will not be needed Sunday either.

Saturday: Darren Manning's car... He did surprisingly well in Qualifying. Have to see how that time holds up in the race and if they were low on fuel. For those who are not regular viewers, he drives for AJ Foyt (yes "the" AJ Foyt) :D

Sunday: Tadashi at the Glen... first time in the field :( No entering the main gate again until October track day ;)

Sunday: Doug's S2000 in the lot at the Glen

Sunday: Part of Rahal Racing's Indy Lite team program. Poor guys don't even get a real garage bay.

Sunday: You had to have a SPECIAL pass to get in the gate... I didn't even try, just snapped a picture :)

Sunday: Shot of the actual IndyCar race... first 10 or so.

Sunday: More of the IndyCar race... next 9 or so cars.

Sunday: Vintage GP car tent was fully open and accessible to the public. Owners and mechanics were very nice in letting us get up close and get in their way :) Following pics are from Sunday right before their 10 laps. Many were running and being tuned.

Here's a view you don't see often -- all the body work removed... look at the tiny bit of room allotted to driver's legs!

Nice Triumph parked in the same lot with the Vintage GP cars... well used, even has an SCCA sticker on the w/s :)

Interior shot... this is NOT a show car!
