Track Time Photo was on hand so hopefully he will get his pics posted soon! I watched enough of his slide show to know he got a few good ones of Tadashi :)

What a blast! I finally got my hands on an instructor (Cal, father of John, my first instructor) who has and drives an S2000 at the track! I knew my previous instructors (while good) did NOT know how good my car was. The S continues to amaze me with it's super powers! Cal let me drive pretty much like I have in the past for the first session - then challenged me to be more competitive.

Not that we are supposed to keep track but my lap time dropped nearly 30 seconds in the second session. Don't ever tell me I am not aggressive enough and then get in a car with me, thank you ;) I hit a new personal high down the straight into turn 1 (90, up from 82 I think last year) and learned a totally new way to look at shifting, red line (hit twice, another new experience) and track lines.

As a 3rd time novice I know it's not totally fair to be better/faster than the other novices but Tadashi kicked some serious butt -- my personal motivation was keeping pace with a Ford GT and *almost* getting to the point where I could pass. Obviously they had alot more power than us but in the corners (where it counts) we were right on their tail for an entire session. I think that was session 2 after which Cal said YES I was alot more competitive :)

Seeing how much faster I could be following the right line was really eye opening yet again, also passing a Porsche and Mercedes. All I can say is that Cal was a great teacher - one of the other instructors asked me on our first session how I managed to get the best instructor (so I told him I had the best car, of course!) but now I am actually starting to believe that. Not anything against either of my first two, but neither really pushed me to be better and I really got stuck in a rutt of being very conservative. GREAT track day - the best so far, and am actually hoping to sneak in ONE more at NHIS this year, which was not originally in the plans. There's a weekend coming up in September right after the Green Mt Tour so no missing work.

And finally - TOP DOWN - all day! It rained in the early morning after we arrived and were safely in our garage bay (the best $25 you will ever spend, especially if it rains) so top stayed down through out the rain storm, things cleared up, we had one wet/dry session after that, two great dry track sessions then after the late afternoon rain it cleared up yet again for another wet/dry session. I KNEW I would be fast if I ever got to drive with the top down :)

My inspiration for speed! It's not every day a Honda gets to keep pace with a GT ;) I never did get to thank the guy. He did get better on the next session out but I'll not forget staying on his tail and being faster into some of the turns.

Not a great pic of Tadashi but shows one of the several "more expensive" cars we passed :) Turn 10 is an absolute blast! The challenge is to come out of 9 correctly and get lined up for 10 right. 9 is tough because you point the car off the track at 60+.

Turn 3! I'm not going to say I have fully conquered the turn because I went so much faster this time and things happen really quickly... you are come in it at 75+ then brake down to 2nd gear at 25-30 mph. There's a lot to remember. Getting better!
